I have had a pretty busy actor week: two auditions and a callback, all for commercials. The callback was for a national brand of cheese, and I apparently did so well that my agent called this morning, saying I was on hold for it. My latest mantra when dealing with all things acting-related is not to get too high with the highs and too low with the lows. I've hit lows before, and I was not interested in repeating this emotional rollercoaster. So, today, I've done my best to keep an even keel. Sure, I checked my cell phone rather obsessively, but I kept my mouth shut about it. Well, okay, I told Tom but I tell him everything. I find it really uncomfortable keeping secrets from him, even about something good. Years ago, I spoiled a small surprise party for him 'cause I couldn't lie to him.
I'm digressing. So, long story short, I got the call from my commercial agency in the afternoon. And the folks at the National Brand of Cheese went with someone else. So I almost got a commercial today. Almost doesn't get you residuals, alas. Getting close is better than being way off, I guess.
