Yesterday my co-worker Becca and I took an afternoon break and drove to get some frozen yogurt. (Driving on a break? So L.A.) As we drove along Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, we saw two stopped cars in the opposite lane. I figured two people had a fender bender. As we got closer, the man in the front car got out. I then noticed that neither car had a scratch on it and there were at least 3 feet of distance between the two. The woman in the other car slightly poked her head out, with her window down. He got up to her car just as we got up to them. Without saying a word, the man then spat in the woman's face. She sat there, shocked, her huge LA sunglasses thankfully covering the upper half of her face. Our car kept going and Becca and I were just slack-jawed. The guy went back into his car and drove off, right when I was getting my wits about me. Becca and I were both thinking we should get his license plate number but it was too late. The indelible image was the woman's face: open mouthed in complete horror, confusion, and shock.
The rest of the drive to the frozen yogurt place Becca and I were trying to figure out why that happened. Obviously, to generate that kind of reaction, it wasn't anything the woman did. The douchebag obviously had some anger issues, and used this woman has his punching bag. If the woman actually did something to him -- cut him off in traffic, insulted his sports team or took a parking space -- why not just give her the bird and drive off? Why not say a curse word and be on your way? So not the way to handle things, dude. So not.
Yikes. As we start getting more and more anxious about the economy and the state of the nation, instances of unprovoked rage like I witnessed yesterday will only get worse. The lesson here, folks: if someone you don't know starts walking up to your car in the middle of the road, roll up your window.
jeebus. :( what a douche.

Douche is putting it lightly... yeesh. I would have gotten a photo of the dude, the license plate and called the cops about a guy who had been beaten half to death.
