After the bumpy ride Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles gave me before, I decided to give the season premiere on Monday another shot. And it did not disappoint. It had plenty of action, intrigue, character development, and a distinct lack of whining from John Connor. The most pleasant addition to the show is Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson. Now, I'm a big fan of Garbage. I have all of their CDs, I love their music, and their videos are fun as well. They are responsible for one of my favorite Bond movie themes (even though I don't care for the movie). So, naturally, I was a bit excited to hear that she joined the cast... and a bit worried. Musicians aren't necessarily the best actors (and vice versa). But, I have to say that she did not disappoint. And I do believe that while the show isn't giving her the best lines to say, I do think that they are utilizing her well. (The addition of her cover of "Samson and Delilah" over the beginning of the episode was one of the many highlights)
Some great guy on YouTube compiled all four of her scenes together below. If you are spolier-phobic, I'd avoid Scene 4. If you aren't, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I know I did.
After seeing the show, I couldn't help but listen to some Garbage at work. Below is a live version of one of their most recent singles "Bad Boyfriend." I hope Shirley is on a lot on Terminator. She makes a great villianess.
aah! *that's* who she is!
